What Would Davey Do – An approach to PCNs
One possible approach to a PCN scenario from Peace Officer Davey..
I understand that you’ve received a suspected court letter, which I imagine is to inform you of proceedings taking place or having taken place already.
However, it’s likely to have come from Northampton Civic National Business Centre, which is not a court, but a bulk processing centre for online civil applications.
Personally, I ignore all demands for money that come through my door, whether from parking companies, councils, or courts (unless relating to criminal matters).
It’s entirely up to you how you wish to proceed with it, and will depend on your personal circumstances. In my situation, I don’t own my own property (so no charging orders can be applied to my home), my vehicle is not worth enough to clamp by enforcement agents to use as leverage (value must be over £1,350), and I don’t care about my credit score being affected by a CCJ. I also really enjoy dealing with enforcement agents and sending them away empty handed, which is why they don’t bother knocking anymore.
If you need any tips on dealing with enforcement agents, watch my talk I did recently in Kewstoke, Weston-super-Mare. If you need any further advice, please feel free to contact me ✌️❤️✌️
